Today's another day

I didn't have too much pain from my initial workout until last night when I went to bed. Today I have decided since it will be one of the last nice days this week and into next that I will go for a walk with hubby.
The diet isn't going too well the last two days. I think I have to stop buying hot dogs, period.
Tomorrow night I'll be back in the gym, this time for the back workout.

Made it to the gym

Well, I made it into the gym. I did a little cardio, lifted some weights, nothing major. Any other time I've started gung ho, I wouldn't be able to move the next. I'm starting slow this time.
I noted that the last time I was in the gym was April 16th of this year. I was going to get fighting trim for my wedding. Then all hell broke loose with my mother's illness. It's been hospital city for four months. Most hospital cafeterias should be closed, especially Orillia and Alliston. I don't think that I could cook that bad on my worst day. Especially interesting was the mystery meatloaf in Orillia. There's also very few restaurants right around the hospitals either. At least in Toronto, St. Mike's has a great cafeteria and there are lots of eating options around.
I have to go and visit Mom now and then off to work. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

The beginning-Monday August 24th, 2009

I started this blog as I begin a new phase of my life. I'm 53 years old and the ravages of middle age are starting to affect me. I have been told I have high blood pressure. I am trying on my own to get it down so I don't have to go on medication. My mother is presently in the hospital because of multiple medical complications resulting from a non-active lifestyle. She had to have a leg amputed due to complications from diabetes and is suffering from COPD. She has been in three hospitals since May and is now in St. Michael's in Toronto. She will never be able to handle living on her own again and will have to go into long term complex chronic care.
I hope to avoid some of her mistakes by getting my butt in gear and going to the gym. I am also revising my nutritional lifestyle. I am even considering taking the Nutrition and Health program at Ryerson next year. Hear goes. I'll be limping off to the gym this afternoon.
